HTTP 409§9.14 Caller requests and the inbox

A stale revision, changed idempotency payload, ineligible assignee, missing verified customer, or immutable customer-link conflict prevented the write. errors[].reason states which condition to resolve. Refresh and preserve unsaved text; do not blindly retry a changed request under the same key.

Problem shape

Every non-2xx response is an RFC 9457 application/problem+json body. The type URI below is stable and machine-matchable, so branch on the final path segment (the code) and treat the status as redundant confirmation. See the error-handling guide.
