Managed business numbers and BYO billing

A new standalone Receptionist plan lets you choose a Vocapable-managed standard US local number or use your own Twilio account. Your company’s exact quote and accepted order determine its bill. A public price or saved selection does not prove a number is acquired or its receptionist is active.

Tier Vocapable number / month Your Twilio / month Included AI minutes Shared simultaneous AI call limit Extra AI minute: managed / BYO
Starter $49 $39 250 2 $0.09 / $0.05
Business $139 $109 1,000 3 $0.09 / $0.05
Scale $269 $219 2,000 5 $0.09 / $0.05

The managed option includes one standard US local number and local inbound/streaming service for its billable AI time. Extra standard local numbers are $3/month each. The 2/3/5 limits are company limits on shared fleet capacity, not reserved hardware. Your numbers and agents share one company allowance; creating another agent does not create another allowance.

Funding: the first included number uses verified paid subscription funds. AI usage beyond the allowance and extra $3 number rentals require settled prepaid credit. Eligible non-AI incoming and connected transfer usage can follow the accepted invoice arrangement. Carrier invoice limits and AI prepaid limits are separate; unused allowance is not wallet credit.

  • AI time: all time with the conversational AI session connected, including listening, silence and tool waits. Combine AI segments for a call, apply one 30-second minimum if positive, then meter per second. Included minutes are consumed before plan-specific AI overage.
  • Non-AI incoming time: $0.025 per started minute for the physical incoming connection outside the AI portion, including supported waiting, menus, ringing, human conversation and voicemail. It consumes no conversational AI allowance.
  • Connected standard US transfer leg: $0.03 per started minute, separate from the incoming non-AI connection.
  • No double carrier charge: the local incoming/streaming service for AI time is already included in managed AI minutes or their overage. It is not charged again as non-AI incoming time.
  • No rollover: the allowance resets at the provider-confirmed subscription renewal, not on the first of the calendar month. Unused minutes are not cash credit.

A call with two AI minutes and then three human minutes uses two billable AI minutes plus $0.075 non-AI incoming time and $0.09 for one connected transfer leg: $0.165 carrier usage, before tax. If a Business managed allowance is exhausted, the two AI minutes add $0.18 ($0.05 AI plus $0.04 associated carrier service per minute). Each non-AI component rounds to its own started minute; human time does not add AI time.

Read the Receptionist allowance offer and the managed number bundle offer served with your number quote before accepting. SMS, international numbers, toll-free numbers, premium destinations and unqualified routes are not included. Alaska and unpriced transfer destinations are excluded.

Your carrier bills its own number rental and carrier minutes directly. Vocapable charges the BYO subscription and AI overage after included minutes; it does not apply the managed carrier tariff to those BYO calls. A same-mode tier renewal does not switch carriers or port a number. Managed/BYO migration is not a self-service promise.

After subscription payment, choose a city, state or area code and select actual available inventory. The first eligible local number is included while the managed subscription remains paid. No extra rental deposit is required for that included-number setup. Additional numbers require their quoted $3/month rental from settled prepaid credit and applicable billing/funding checks. Adding credit does not activate automatic top-ups or reserve a number.

The number offer’s version and SHA-256 must match its rental quote. Accept the exact served number terms and submit once. If a response is interrupted, check the saved acquisition or retry the same request; do not start a second purchase. Wait for carrier acquisition, readiness, receptionist testing and activation before advertising or forwarding calls to the number.

The qualified managed route supports a receptionist, bounded FIFO waiting with position announcements and optional hold music, prerecorded closed-hours and busy/error fallback, consented voicemail, and a supported transfer to an eligible US destination. Waiting, voicemail and a human transfer consume carrier time without conversational AI minutes. Recording, general conferencing and outbound campaigns are separate capabilities and are not included by buying a managed number.

The new managed-phone-service-2026-10-11-v1 offer uses 1.5× actual attributable Twilio supplier usage cost (a 50% markup), separately from the outbound plan subscription, AI minutes and $0.005 per outbound attempt. Standard US local number rental is $3/month each; an outbound subscription includes no number. The normal outbound AI rates remain $0.13/minute month-to-month or $0.09/minute under the accepted three-year commitment, before applicable volume discounts.

Confirmed parent and child call legs, Media Streams and supported recording/storage costs are combined for the complete call, multiplied by 1.5 and rounded up once to a whole cent. Do not apply markup to each component separately or substitute a reserve ceiling for authenticated supplier costs. Number rental is a fixed separate charge, not supplier rental multiplied by 1.5. BYO carrier service is paid directly to Twilio with no Vocapable markup.

Read the supplied-phone service offer and each number’s actual accepted quote. This pricing does not open public acquisition or outbound origination. Current managed-number acquisition requires paid Receptionist coverage and qualifies incoming service; an outbound-only plan cannot buy a number for an unavailable calling path. Outbound calling currently requires a verified BYO Twilio account. An incoming test or ready_for_calls value is not outbound qualification.

GET /v1/onboarding/managed-number-rentals reports retail_pricing: supplier_cost_1_5x, usage_cost_multiplier_bps: 15000 and number_rental_billing_basis: fixed_monthly_price for this offer. outbound_calls_available: false and managed_outbound_origination_not_qualified identify the separate origination restriction. number_purchase_available: false with paid_receptionist_coverage_required prevents an outbound-only company from acquiring an unusable number. These are owner-session/company-scoped setup reads; they do not grant a company key cross-company access.

Accepted legacy orders retain their own rate card. The legacy managed-number offer managed-us-local-2026-10-09-v2 remains published at Managed Business Number Offer: number rental is twice quoted supplier monthly cost; confirmed attributable carrier cost is combined, doubled and rounded up once per complete call. Its prepaid holds, rental reserves and accepted rates remain in force.

Legacy Receptionist is $250/month with one purchased connection, $150/month per additional connection and accepted AI usage rates. Receptionist attached to an Engage, Workforce or Sales outbound bundle uses those legacy connection-based terms, without the new standalone allowance. Existing agreements are not retroactively changed by the new public prices.

Billing shows your plan, real current-period allowance consumption, reservations and remaining minutes when the server returns them. Missing counters are unavailable, never assumed zero. Review a same-phone-mode tier change in Billing ? Change plan; confirm its exact price and provider-confirmed renewal. It does not refund or reset the active period.

The number’s rental state and calling readiness are separate. An included entitlement follows the paid subscription; ending the subscription does not promise indefinite number retention. Review release consequences before confirming a number release. Retry/recovery checks continue the saved operation and do not initiate another charge. Contact support if the provider outcome needs reconciliation.
